Understanding the Campaign
There are two rounds in this campaign with two Grand Lucky Draws that you can take part in - each successful card application during the campaign period will give you 1x chance in the Grand Lucky Draw, but there is also the opportunity to earn bonus chances during the campaign (more information on this later!). There are 14 credit cards available for application - seven for cashback, and seven for miles. When you apply for a miles card, you will be part of Team Air Miles, and applying for a cashback card will put you in Team Cashback. In case you were wondering, applying for both a cashback and miles card within a single round will allow you to be on both teams.
At the end of each campaign round, a winning team will be picked - either Team Cashback or Team Air Miles - and everyone who is a part of that team will be able to earn additional rewards (on top of what is already being offered). In the first round of the campaign, eligible applicants may earn up to 34,000 bonus Max Miles or S$370 worth of vouchers.
Eligible Products to Apply For
There are 14 participating products that you can apply for as a new customer under this campaign to earn fantastic sign-up gifts (e.g. S$300 cash reward, Dyson Supersonic, Apple iPad, and PlayStation 5 Disc Version just to name a few).
Sign-up Gifts for New Customers
Everyone can take part in the Grand Lucky Draw and the team challenge but the sign-up gifts are as usual, applicable to new-to-card customers only. There is a very detailed table of offers that you may refer to but essentially there are some slight differences in how a bank defines who a ‘new-to-card customer’ is, and the sign-up gifts also differ from each product. If you are looking for a couple of recommendations, I am personally a huge fan of the following credit cards as I use them daily:
UOB Lady’s Card: By selecting travel as my preferred bonus category, I can earn 4 miles per dollar (capped at S$2,000 for the UOB Lady’s Solitare Card on all eligible travel expenses - even offline o-property payments!
Citi Rewards Card: Easily the best credit card to use with Instarem’s Amaze Card to avoid foreign currency fees, earn bonus cashback, and earn 4 miles per dollar at the same time on most purchases - this is the best combo when traveling overseas!
HSBC Revolution Credit Card: This used to be one of the best dining credit cards in Singapore the card does not even have an annual fee each year so you do not have to worry about hitting minimum spending, or requesting for an annual fee waiver. You can still earn 4 miles per dollar on this credit card for eligible online as well as contactless transactions.
Standard Chartered Smart Credit Card: Even though this card allows you to earn points that can convert into miles, I treat it as a 6% cashback card for daily mundane things like taking public transportation, buying coffee (from Ya Kun Kaya Toast and Toast Box), as well as occasionally indulging in McDonald’s,
Team Cashback vs Team Air Miles Challenge
As mentioned earlier, applying for a cashback card will put you in the cashback team and vice versa; applying for both will allow you to root for both teams so you walk away as a lucky winner regardless. At the end of each round, a winning team will be picked and all team members (i.e. successful applicants who have applied for at least one eligible credit card) will enjoy additional rewards. In the first round of the campaign, members of the winning team can earn up to 34,000 bonus Max Miles (which convert into 34,000 miles at a 1:1 ration) or S$370 vouchers.
As you can see from the graphics above, some cards will allow you to win more if your team wins. Assuming you are rooting for Team Air Miles, applying for the Citi PremierMiles Card and the HSBC Revolution Credit Card during the campaign period will allow you to walk away with an additional 20,000 Max Miles if Team Air Miles wins - the more cards you apply for, the more you will win if your team wins.
Earning Bonus Chances in the Grand Lucky Draw(s)
Each card application will allow you to earn 1x chance in the Grand Lucky Draw and since there are 14 participating products in this campaign, you may earn up to 14 chances by simply applying for the credit cards. Additionally, all winning team applicants will also earn a 1x bonus chance for each eligible product that they apply for during the campaign period.
