More and more Singaporeans have turned to staycations as a solution to get away from the regularity of day to day life. As an avid staycation-goer myself, I rely largely on this little breaks to get myself in tune with the things that matter to me most. As many of you may already know, I am a huge brand supporter of Pan Pacific and I have stayed in the Pan Pacific Singapore and Pan Pacific Orchard (alongside PARKROYAL on Beach Road) multiple times, with the former property being the most frequent - enough to maintain my Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) status year to year. If you are observant enough, you will notice that Singapore has a whole line of Pan Pacific Serviced Suites and I was lucky enough to get invited to check out the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites that is located right above the Somerset MRT.

The Walkway to the Lifts at the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites

The Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites do not have a hotel license and therefore, it is not possible to get an apartment just for the weekend - the minimum stay is a week. Also, it is also worth noting that GHA privileges do not officially apply at the Pan Pacific Serviced Suites so don't expect to get a double upgrade for being a GHA Black member!

As mentioned earlier, the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites is meant to house longer staying guests and therefore you will find that the amenities are slightly different. In order to make your stay in the apartment a lot more comfortable, the Pan Pacifc Orchard Road Serviced Suites has placed a lot more emphasis in the amenities (both in-room and within the serviced suites). There are different apartment and suite configurations at the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites which starts from a Premium Suite (S$365++ a night) to the luxurious Two Bedroom Penthouse (S$990++ a night). If the prices scare you a bit, don't worry because you are getting what you are paying for and besides, if you are staying for a while, expect to get a much better rate than the ones listed here!

I had the privilege of spending a lazy weekend in a One Bedroom Deluxe Suite at the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites. Having lived on my own for a couple of years outside of Singapore, I truly value the importance of a well-equipped and beautifully furnished apartment (or bachelor's pad however you call it). Even though the One Bedroom Deluxe Suite was not luxurious in size (only 49sqm!) it was incredibly sufficient and the use of space was ingenious. Despite the limited space, the apartment features a king-sized bed, separate living and dining areas, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer!).

The One Bedroom Deluxe Suite features an open concept living room which also helps to create that sense of space. You will find a LED TV with local and High Definition cable channels in the living room which makes it the perfect excuse to stay in on a weekend - nothing like catching up over your favourite TV series. The partitioned-off living area is also a great place for you to get together with some friends.

Perhaps one of the most important places in a serviced suite is the kitchen and dining area since it is a major differentiating factor when compared to a regular hotel room. Families who are traveling with children will often opt for a serviced apartment as it will be easier to prepare meals at odd hours (especially when you are nursing a young kid!).

The One Bedroom Deluxe Suite comes equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, microwave-oven, induction cooking stoves, pots and pans, coffee and tea-making facilities as well as a serving utensils/cutleries for up to four guests. Even though there is only a small seating area for two in the apartment, you can definitely host a handful of guests over in the living area.

Welcome Amenity - A Box of Molton Brown Bath Amenities

You will find a Welcome Amenity upon checking-in to your serviced suite (for one month stay and above) - a box of Molton Brown amenities (non-replenishable but available at a special rate should you wish to purchase more). It consists of a Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash and Body Lotion (100ml each) which are great for you to bring along even in your hand-carry since the capacity adheres to international flight restrictions.

Upon refreshing your apartment, 'em-brace' bath amenities are provided by the Vanity Group for Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts. The bedroom is extremely spacious and you will find another LED TV (complete with cable channels) in the comfort of your own room. For those who take their home entertainment a little more seriously, there is a Bose® home theatre system with CD and DVD player located in your bedroom.

My bedroom at the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites also came with a decent view of Orchardgateway and a lot of sky - always a good thing to have!

Rain Shower in the Bathroom of the One Bedroom Deluxe Suite

The bathroom of the One Bedroom Deluxe Suite is not exactly a full-sized bathroom but it is sufficient for a long-term staying guest with all the right inclusions - a rain-shower and laundry facilities all within the comfort of your own apartment. In fact, washing powder is also provided so you can start making use of the facilities as soon as you check in. There is no bathtub in the One Bedroom Deluxe Suite so if that is important to you, be sure to check out other suite types (like the One Bedroom Executive Suite or higher) located HERE.

As a guest of the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites, you will enjoy complimentary breakfast daily (except on Sunday and Public Holidays) at the Pacific Lounge.

If you prefer something lighter, there is a decent selection of breakfast cereals, fruits as well as salads.

Different kinds of breads and toasts are also available or if you prefer, there are a couple of hot food items that are on rotation daily - so you don't get bored of eating at the Pacific Lounge!

While waiting for your food to be served, feel free to practice putting at the brand new Putting Green that is easily accessible via the Pacific Lounge - great way to hone up your skills before impressing your friends on the green!

The Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites also has an ionized water swimming pool located on the same level as the Pacific Lounge. There are also three distinct areas of the swimming pool (children’s area, Jacuzzi and the lap pool) which caters to the different needs of the in-house guests.

For a full body workout, be sure to check out one of the latest additions to the property - the Hydro-Rider Aqua Fitness Equipment - which allows you to enjoy a high intensity, low impact workout which is easier on your joints but still giving you that burn you desire. This is also supplemented by the benefits of an aquatic environment: buoyancy, water density and hydrostatic pressure.

To fully develop that summer body that everyone desires, complete your workout at the fully-equipped fitness centre. The fitness centre has a healthy 85 sqm workout space which provides quality equipment from Technogym (the same one they use at major gyms around the world!) and it is also equipped with a Kinesis and Anterior/Posterior machine for extra strength and body toning. For the more determined residents, they can also engage a personal trainer at the fitness centre to aid in the training.

If you are a lot more laid-back like me, then the Hydro-Therapeutic Spa will be the place for you to go. Forget about the strenuous exercises and indulge in a Japanese-style Onsen on the wellness floor. After using the rain showers by the spa, immerse yourself in to the hot water pool (maintained at 42 Degrees Celsius) and alternate between the hot and warm pools to left the hydrotherapy jets reduce muscle aches. It is believed that hydro-therapy will help to improve blood circulation, boost your immune system, calm your senses and to promote a good night’s rest.

The Living Room at the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites

Finally, my favourite part of the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites (apart from its excellent location of course) is The Living Room. The Living Room is a resident's lounge and you can think of it as a communal area or an extension of your serviced suite.

It is almost like a hotel's executive lounge where you will be able to rest and relax with a range of facilities for your entertainment and well-being - a library, pool table, electronic dartboard, X-box Kinect, Osim massage chairs as well as coffee and tea-making facilities.

The Living Room has an electronic dartboard for you to challenge your friends (or simply to practice!).

I also liked that takeaway cups are readily available so you can always pop by for your dose of caffeine before heading out to work .

The Living Room also opens up to one of many Sky Gardens that residents can take advantage of. Getting a breath of fresh air after being cooped up in your apartment or at work can do wonder for you and the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites genuinely cares for the well-being of their residents. Lay back and finish a good book while enjoying a cup of coffee; there are so many ways I can think about spending a lazy weekend.

For residents who require a temporary meeting space, The Living Room also offers a functioning meeting room which comes equipped with a TV (for presentation or video-conferencing) and whiteboard to jot down valuable ideas.

Complimentary WiFI is also provided throughout the apartment and public areas to make sure you stay connected and your data-hungry devices remain satisfied.

If you are looking restaurant to have breakfast or dinner, the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites also houses two excellent restaurants that are located on street level - Oriole Coffee + Bar (review to come on a separate post!) and Bedrock Bar and Grill. Residents of the Pan Pacific Orchard Road Serviced Suites will also receive a discount on spending at these two restaurants. Bedrock Bar and Grill serves up really good steaks at a great price and to sweeten that deal further, bear in mind that it is a participating merchant of The Entertainer - that means you get 1 for 1 deals!
